Advocacy in Tennessee
The Tennessee Association of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists (TAASLP) looks forward to working collaboratively with lawmakers, policymakers, decision makers, and allied stakeholders to advance the public policy priorities in the ASHA 2023 Public Policy Agenda as well as advocacy efforts at the state level.
There are approximately 420 audiologists and 3,530 speech-language pathologists in Tennessee, and each voice matters!
In the past two years, advocacy efforts have led to TN being included in the Interstate Compact, telepractice being extended until 2024, improved timelines for Department of Health licensure, and more. TAASLP Advocacy is working closely with the TN Department of Health, TN Department of Education, and ASHA to educate and advocate on your needs.
Every year in March/April, TAASLP members are invited to join with TAASLP/TAA Advocacy leaders in Nashville for our Day on the Hill Advocacy event.
Day on the Hill is when members speak to state legislators to bring awareness of our fields and to gain support for bills that impact SLPs and AUDs during the current legislative session.
Be on the lookout for emails from TAASLP regarding Day on the Hill 2024, letter writing campaigns and how you can get involved!
