How to Create a Virtual Speech Room
As a teletherapist, you may not have a physical space to decorate with cute speech posters or student art; however, there is a way to get creative by making a virtual speech room that your students will love (and you’ll have fun making).
- Open Google Slides or PowerPoint and start with a blank slide
- Paste or insert a background picture that looks like a room onto the blank slide. You can Google ideas such as “classroom background” or just “room background” depending on your preference
- Now start adding pictures of objects either from clipart or google. This can be items such as wall posters, a desk, a coffee mug, a whiteboard with a to-do list, shelves, speech games, get creative!
- Tip: To ensure you have your pictures ordered and positioned the way you want them, so they are not covered by other pictures, use:
Google Slides: Right-click the picture, hover over "Order" and make your selection
PowerPoint: Right-click on the object and choose "Bring to Front" or "Send to Back”
*BONUS* if you are feeling really creative and want to add yourself into the classroom, you can add your Bitmoji character, if you have one. Log in to your account on the Bitmoji website. You can copy and paste from there or add an extension to your browser.
Now you have a virtual, personalized speech room!
