Wednesday Win: Coming Back Stronger

My Wednesday 'win' in therapy occurred during my time in the clinic with a client I evaluated back in September. This client (3 years old) presented with extremely limited expressive language and minimal participation in activities or with me. Transitions from the lobby into the therapy room were also difficult without the support of his caregiver. Once in the room, he would hide under chairs or want to sit with his caregiver. During the past months, we have spent time growing rapport slowly but surely!

After Christmas, I was worried I would see a decline due to the break in his routine, but he came back and blew my expectations out of the water! In a recent session, he transitioned to the therapy room all by himself, and he was excited to be there. We were able to participate in cooperative play, imitate early bilabial sounds, and exhibit communication exchanges within activities. I am so proud of the progress he has made, and it is so exciting to see!
